Community volunteers often ask attorneys, CPAs, and financial advisors to donate their time and expertise to set up nonprofit organizations. Before you agree to help, ask yourself the following:

First, can you afford to do this work for free? Second, is volunteering the best use of your free time? Third, does your heart belong to this particular cause? If you answer “no” to any of these questions, politely decline to participate.
