Insights from Heckering 2016: As The World Gets Smaller, The Estate Planning World Is Getting Bigger

by Matthew T. McClintock, JD | VP, Education - WealthCounsel

One of the most thought-provoking topics that I heard about at Heckerling 2016 was the emergence of international taxation as a practice area for trusts and estates (T&E) attorneys. Given the shift away from federal transfer tax and increasing globalization, planning for non-U.S. citizens has become a growth area for our industry — and an opportunity to better serve a diversity of clients. There are, however, a variety of issues clients and advisors might face. The upside is that there are also many ways that T&E attorneys can advise international clients on these issues and perhaps parlay that into estate planning, business planning, and tax planning services as well.

Please take a moment to download this Insight Brief to learn more. 2016 is going to be an interesting year on many fronts and will provide new challenges and opportunities for T&E attorneys.
