Janet is certified as a Specialist in Estate Planning, Probate, and Trust law by the California State Bar Board of Legal Specialization. She is an Adjunct faculty member at Univerity of California-Santa Cruz where she teaches the Estate Planning course in the Certificate program for Certified Financial Planners. Janet received her J.D. (Juris Doctorate) degree from the University of Denver Law School in 1975, her MBA from Golden Gate University in 1982, and her B.A. from University of Wisconsin in 1971. Janet has also completed approximately 2/3 of the LLM (Master of Laws) program in Taxation at Golden Gate University. Prior to forming her own private practice in Estate Planning, she served on the corporate legal staff of Hewlett-Packard Company (1975-1979). She served as General Counsel of Hills Bros. Coffee (1979-1982); Corvus Systems (1982-85); and Telebit Corporation (1985-1989). She has also worked in the Legal Departments of Integrated Device Technology (IDT), VLSI, and Syquest, where she practiced in the areas of IT licensing (software, hardware, OEM), R&D contract negotiations, and general corporate law. Janet is a member of the California State Bar Association, the Silicon Valley Bar Association, the Palo Alto Area Bar Association, and the San Mateo County Bar Association.
